DESIGN YOUR ROOM WITH WOODY RESONATOR
The Woody Resonator is a true Helmholtz resonator that works perfectly on absorbing very low frequencies. In comparison to the absorber Woody Queen or Woody Wavy, it absorbs only a narrow frequency range of just a few Hz (for example 48-50 Hz). Every Woody Resonator is made on-demand because we have to tune it to absorb your desired frequency.
How does it work?
The Resonator is an enclosed system of air inside a panel, that communicates with the outside through small openings. The air inside resonates at a specific frequency that depends on the geometry of the openings. It’s like when you blow over the opening of a bottle and you hear sound at a specific frequency. Here you have a perforated plate that has hole openings designed to resonate at a specific frequency that you desire.
Inside, a recycled acoustic material Envizol is placed on the backing of the panel, so the effectivity of the absorption is increased.
Tuning of the Woody Resonator is done by changing a few aspects of the system based on the mathematical calculation from Herman von Helmholtz who described this phenomenon in the late 1800s. In this case, it’s a change in the spacing between the holes and the diameter of the holes themselves. We can theoretically design a Resonator that can absorb any frequency from the whole sound spectrum.
Efficiency on a narrow frequency
Resonators are made-to-measure. You have to first tell us which frequency is the most troublesome, and then we tune the front plate of the Resonator so it works for you. It will then absorb the frequencies only very close to the desired one. For example, if you want to absorb a peak at 38 Hz, the Woody Resonator will work only between 37-39 Hz, with a maximum at 38 Hz.
Placement is recommended as close to the listening position as possible. By experimenting with the placement, you can find out that in some parts of the room, the resonator might absorb more energy than in others.
Pack more than one
While a single resonator will absorb a lot of energy over a narrow frequency spectrum, more are usually required to achieve the best result, especially in bigger rooms. You can start with one resonator tuned to a specific frequency, and if you see that the peak of the frequency is still too high, you can add more.
In a typical home studio, you’ll probably need at least two resonators to attenuate the sound pressure level by more than 5 dB. If it’s just a few dB, one should be enough.
Focus on the quality
We pride ourselves on offering handmade sustainable products which are also safe to use. That’s why we never use mineral or glass wool as a filling material. We use an acoustic absorption material called Envizol that is made out of recycled PET.
Each Woody Resonator is a true original made by hand from sustainable materials using our signature patented design.
Patented design
The design of the Woody resonator is patented and protected under the European industrial design no. 008611321-0004 and 008611321-0005.

FAQ
Where should I place the Woody Resonator?
Placement is recommended as close to the listening position as possible. By experimenting with the placement, you can find out that in some parts of the room, the resonator might absorb more energy than in others. Sidewalls and front walls close to the corners are ideal.
How many resonators should I use?
While a single resonator will absorb a lot of energy over a narrow frequency spectrum, more are usually required to achieve the best result, especially in bigger rooms. You can start with one resonator tuned to a specific frequency, and if you see that the peak of the frequency is still too high, you can add more.
In a typical home studio, you’ll probably need at least two resonators to attenuate the sound pressure level by more than 5 dB. If it’s just a few dB, one should be enough.
Can I use the wall panels Woody Queen and Wavy instead of Woody Resonators?
Not really. Woody Queens are broadband absorbers that won’t really affect the lowest frequencies.
Woody Wavy corner absorbers are a great option, but in comparison to Resonators, they will absorb much more sound energy from a wider frequency spectrum. If you need to go lower than 40 Hz or if you want to absorb only a specific frequency (not others), only Resonator will be the best option for you.
Let us know if you need any help with choosing the most-suitable acoustic treatment for you.
Is this the bass trap?
Nope, bass traps are working on a wider frequency spectrum. Also, bass traps are usually designed to sit in the corners of the room. Resonators can be put up in corners, on the sidewalls, on the ceiling…
How to make use of Woody resonator
